Supermetrics alternative for agencies: a different connector, or a reporting team?
The right Supermetrics alternative for agencies depends on the job you want to hand off: if you need marketing data moved into your own dashboards, Supermetrics already does that well, and a managed service is not what you need; if you want client reports built, checked and explained for you, pick a reporting team such as reportfor.agency. Supermetrics moves the data. Someone still has to build, check and explain the reports. If that is the part you want to stop doing, you do not need a different connector; you need a reporting team. We use connectors such as Supermetrics in our own pipeline.
First, name the problem you want to solve
Most agencies search for an alternative when something hurts. Before you compare tools, write down what hurts. The answer tells you which kind of product to look at.
- "The connector is too expensive or does not fit our plan limits." This is a connector problem. Compare connectors. See the section on other connectors below.
- "A source we need is missing, or a sync breaks." This is also a connector problem. Check the source list of each tool.
- "The data is there, but nobody has time to build the dashboards, check the totals and write the client update." This is a reporting-work problem. A new connector will move the same data into the same empty template. A reporting team fixes this.
Many agency owners find that the third point is the real one. The tool works. The hours around it do not fit in the week.
What Supermetrics does well
Supermetrics is a well-known product, and it earns that. On its home page it describes itself as a "Marketing Intelligence Platform for agencies and brands" and says it is trusted by 200,000+ companies. Here is what stands out from its own pages (checked 6 Oct 2026):
- Wide reach into the tools agencies use. It sends data to Looker Studio (now called Data Studio), Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, BigQuery, Snowflake and other places, as listed on its home page and pricing page.
- Built with agencies in mind. Its agency page talks about multi-client dashboards, white-label dashboards and growing "from 5 clients to 5000" on the same platform.
- AI access to your data. It connects to AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT, and the paid plans include monthly AI credits.
- Security paperwork. The agency page lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.
- Easy to try. A 14-day free trial with no credit card needed.
If your team likes building reports and has the hours for it, these are good reasons to stay.
What still sits with your team when you use Supermetrics
A connector fills a table or a chart with numbers. It does not decide what the numbers mean for one client this week. With any connector, your team still owns these steps:
- Build. Pick fields, set up the template, blend sources, and brand it for each client.
- Check. Make sure yesterday's data arrived, totals match Google Ads, Meta and GA4, and no account was disconnected.
- Watch. Notice when spend or cost per conversion jumps between reports.
- Explain. Find the reason a number moved and decide the next action.
- Write. Turn that into an email or a deck the client will read.
This is the work reportfor.agency takes over. We are a fully managed client reporting service for marketing agencies. Your team does the marketing. We do the client reporting.
Supermetrics alone vs Supermetrics + reportfor.agency
| Supermetrics alone | Supermetrics + reportfor.agency | |
|---|---|---|
| What you buy | Software that moves marketing data into your tools | A team of data engineers and marketing analysts that builds and runs your client reporting |
| Who builds dashboards | Your team | We do. Live white-label dashboard per client, with your logo and colors |
| Data pipe | Supermetrics | A connector such as Supermetrics moves data into your own cloud account, usually a BigQuery project |
| Data checks | Your team checks syncs and totals | Checked every day: fresh, complete, and totals compared with Google Ads, Meta, GA4 and other sources on a fixed schedule |
| Written client update | Your team writes it | Weekly written report every Monday: key results, reasons, next actions and a ready-to-send client email |
| Monthly meeting | Your team prepares it | 1-page monthly review PDF per client |
| Alerts | Depends on what your team sets up | Daily Slack alerts when spend, cost per conversion or conversions move more than 20% |
| AI | AI chats and AI credits to ask questions about your data | Code calculates every number; AI drafts the words, never the numbers; an analyst checks every report |
| Price | From $49/month (Starter, monthly billing), per its pricing page, checked 20 Oct 2026 | $99 per client per month + $997 one-time setup per agency, minimum 5 clients |
| Your team's time | Build, check, explain and write | Review and send. Usually under 1 hour per client per month |
Cost example: 5 clients
Take an agency with 5 clients. Each client has one Google Ads account, one Meta ad account and one GA4 property. That is 3 data sources with 5 accounts each.
On the Supermetrics pricing page (checked 20 Oct 2026), Starter is $49/month ($39/month billed yearly) with 2 data sources, 1 user and 2 accounts per source. Three sources with five accounts each is more than Starter allows. Growth is $199/month ($159/month billed yearly) with 7 data sources, 2 users and 7 accounts per source, so Growth fits this example. Enterprise is "Get a Quote".
reportfor.agency, 5 clients
$495 /month$99 per client per month + $997 one-time setup per agency. Each client includes up to 4 ad platforms; GA4 and Search Console at no extra cost. See full pricing.
Supermetrics Growth is the lower monthly bill. But it is a tool, not finished reports. Your team still builds the template, checks the data, finds the story and writes the update for each client every week. We cannot tell you how many hours that is for your agency. Count it for one normal month, and put that number next to both prices.
Want a wider view of the cost of doing it in house? A data engineer and an analyst cost about $190,000 a year in US base pay (US Bureau of Labor Statistics medians, May 2024: data scientists, market research analysts).
When Supermetrics on its own is enough
- You have an analyst or data person who likes building reports and has time each week to keep them correct.
- You want full control of every chart, field and blend, and you change reports often.
- You report for a few clients, the reports are simple, and clients do not expect a written update.
- You want data in a BI tool or warehouse that your own team runs, such as Power BI or Snowflake.
- Your budget allows a tool subscription but not a service fee yet.
When a managed reporting service is the better choice
- Your account managers spend Monday mornings building and fixing reports instead of talking to clients.
- Clients ask "why did this change?" and nobody has the time to find the reason.
- You have had a wrong number reach a client, and you want someone accountable for checking.
- You want a weekly written report and a monthly PDF for every client, not only a dashboard.
- You are growing past 10 or 20 clients and do not want to hire a data engineer and an analyst.
We back this with two guarantees. Your first report arrives within 7 days of read-only access, or you get the setup fee back. And if your client finds a wrong number (one that does not match the source platform for a finished day; recent "provisional" days are excluded) before we flag it, that client's month is free. See how it works on our outsourced client reporting page.
If you really need a different connector
Sometimes the problem is the connector: a plan limit, a missing source, or a price model that does not fit. In that case, compare connectors, not reporting services. Two tools many agencies look at:
Windsor.ai
Prices by data sources and accounts, with a free plan and paid plans from $23/month billed monthly, per its pricing page (checked 20 Oct 2026). It lists 350+ sources.
Coupler.io
Prices by connected accounts, with a free plan and paid plans from $32/month billed monthly, per its pricing page (checked 20 Oct 2026). It lists 400+ sources and dashboard templates.
Or keep Supermetrics
If the tool works and the problem is the hours around it, switching connectors changes little. Keep the connector and hand off the reporting work.
We use all three in our pipeline. Each one is good at moving data. None of them writes your Monday client email or checks it before it goes out.
Using Supermetrics and reportfor.agency together
You do not have to pick one side. Supermetrics can be the pipe; we are the team that runs the reporting on top of it. Here is how a start looks:
- Day 1–2: connect. You give read-only access. We cannot change campaigns, budgets or settings. We sign an NDA and a DPA first.
- Day 3–7: first report. We set up the data in your own cloud account, usually a BigQuery project, and send the first report.
- Day 8–12: brand and tune. Your logo, your colors, your notes.
- Day 14: go live. Live in 14 days for up to 20 clients.
If you already pay for Supermetrics, tell us on the call. If you leave us later, you keep the data, dashboards and documentation. Dashboards keep updating only if you take over the data connector subscription, and we help move it. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice; there is no minimum term after setup.
Questions about Supermetrics alternatives
Is reportfor.agency a Supermetrics competitor?
Not really. Supermetrics is software that moves data. We are a managed reporting service. We use connectors such as Supermetrics, Windsor.ai and Coupler.io to move data into BigQuery, and then we build, check and explain the reports.
Do I need to cancel Supermetrics to work with you?
No. Talk to us first. We will look at your current setup and agree the pipe with you before we start.
Who writes the weekly report?
Code calculates every number. AI drafts the words, never the numbers. An analyst checks every report. Your account manager approves and sends it. We never contact your clients.
Which sources do you support?
GA4, Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Search Console and your CRM. Each client includes up to 4 ad platforms; GA4 and Search Console are at no extra cost, and a CRM counts as 1 of the 4.
Can I test this before I commit?
Yes. Try the free demo: paste one campaign CSV export and see changes, risks and next actions. It runs in your browser and the data is not uploaded. Or start a pilot: 1 client, $199 setup + $99 for the first month, with the $199 credited to the setup fee if you continue.
Is my data safe?
We get read-only access. Data stays in your own cloud account, usually a BigQuery project. AI sees campaign totals only, no personal data, and it is not used to train AI.
Where can I compare other tools?
